When it comes to plywood, non-professionals may not know much about it. In fact, plywood is often used in our home decoration, especially in custom furniture, as the main material. It is also a type of building material used in decoration, which will be installed and used at the beginning of construction. Although this type of board is widely used, many consumers are confused by its different specifications. So, let's learn about what plywood is and its specifications.

What is plywood furniture?

Plywood furniture is actually a new type of artificial board, consisting of a top layer and inner layers that are symmetrically configured on both sides of the center layer or the board core. The board-shaped materials are bonded into a whole using wood adhesive, which helps us save wood resources. Therefore, it is also a very fashionable and environmentally friendly way of using resources. Plywood usually has three or more layers, with odd-numbered layers being more prevalent. Modern processing techniques have greatly improved the physical and mechanical properties of wood boards.

Plywood furniture specifications

The length and width of plywood may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer, but generally come in sizes such as 1220x2440mm, 1220x1830mm, 915x1830mm, and 915x2135mm. We can choose different sizes according to our needs when using it. The thickness of plywood tables is actually determined by the number of layers, and the more inner layers there are, the thicker the table will be. However, if we classify plywood by thickness alone, it can be divided into several specifications such as 3mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 18mm. Therefore, there is no fixed size specification for plywood.

Types of plywood furniture

First class plywood

This type of plywood table has a very long service life and is characterized by climate resistance and boiling water resistance.

Second class plywood

This type of plywood can be soaked in cold water and briefly soaked in hot water. It is also a type of water-resistant plywood, but its performance is inferior to that of first-class plywood.

Third class plywood

This type of plywood is generally more moisture-resistant, but cannot be soaked in water. It is more suitable for furniture and general construction.

Fourth class plywood

This type of plywood is not moisture-resistant or water-resistant, so its price is relatively cheap and it can be used without special requirements.

In summary, plywood is a piece of board made by bonding several boards together with adhesive, and this characteristic also helps us save resources. Its width and thickness are not fixed, so there is no fixed size specification for plywood. This article provides information on what plywood furniture is and what its specifications are.
